Mni Wiconi Water is Life

When everyone left camp the group I was working with, the Medic and Healer Council, remained in Bismarck North Dakota to decompress and take care of some work. Myself and some peers went to the rededication ceremony of Black Elk Peak (formerly Harney Peak) which is the highest natural point in South Dakota. A friend of mine, Ben Red Bear, met an artist/photographer, John Willis, who was handing out his card and asking people about material remnants from camp. Ben knew that I had collected materials to make the eventual larger body of work Please Handle With Care. I reached out to John and mentioned I had created a series of work with the material I collected at camp. He invited me to his home in Vermont and photographed the larger body of work. He then invited me to include some of my works in the publication he was working on.

Copies of the book can be found on his site here.
